Bush to Kerry: Increasing Size of Military Would Make Country ‘Less Safe’

Today Bush announced his intention to increase the overall size of the Army, acknowledging that current forces were stressed. The Washington Post reports he
’s considering an increase of 50-70,000 troops. On June 3, 2004, John Kerry proposed expanding the Army by 40,000 troops. Bush quickly slammed the proposal as unnecessary and counter-productive.

Green Lantern Creator Dead at 91

Martin Nodell, the creator of Green Lantern, the comic book superhero who uses his magical ring to help him fight crime, has died. He was 91. Nodell was born in Philadelphia and studied at art schools in Chicago and New York. Besides Spencer Nodell, survivors include another son, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
